Southport Railway Club prides itself on its bar and its staff and aims to break the mould of the traditional idea of a social club. Quality and consistency are words that we constantly strive towards and our staff are always friendly,  polite and helpful.

All our beer and lager is carefully monitored in the cellar to ensure that each pint poured has the same high quality as the last. To complete the process our staff expertly serve you and dispense your chosen beer, lager or cider into into our new branded glassware. This care and pride from delivery to pouring ensures that you are getting a top quality drink every time.

The bar itself is also newly refurbished to create a more welcoming and homely feel. We do allow guests to decorate the function room and guidelines for this can be found in our Function Contract.

Real Ale

The club has at least one real cask ale on tap at any given time and often it has two. Casks are racked on a state of the art auto stillage unit to ensure that the barrel is always at the correct angle and this is housed in a separate part of the cellar to keep it slightly warmer at 12 - 13 degrees Celsius; cask ale's optimum serving temperature.

Pricing

As we are a member's club we operate a dual pricing system. Club members pay an annual membership fee and one of the benefits of that is that they get charged less for their drinks.

Some clubs in the area have taken the decision to keep their member's drink prices as low as possible whilst setting guest prices much higher (sometimes up to 80p+ more for a pint!). We, however, have now lowered our prices and are competitively priced against all our surrounding local pubs!

Bringing your own drinks

Obviously, this is a big 'No No'. We provide a large room free of charge but all our costs come from bar sales. Please be aware that (as stated in the function contract) if we find any drink that has been brought in then it will be confiscated. We tend to find that younger people are the main offenders, but we have caught more mature adults in the past too!!

In some instances you may want to provide drink for a toast. In this case we can either buy it in for you or you can buy it and leave it behind the bar. If you buy it then you will be charged corkage. These arrangements must be made in advance of the function with the Club Manager.

Occasionally, you may also have some guests that enjoy a particular tipple that we don't generally stock. In these cases we may be able to stock it for you function...if you can provide assurances that it will be bought! We're unlikely to buy in an obscure liqueur that's your Aunty Ethel drinks when she'll only have one at the end of the night!!
